FAQS

  • How does the money get to the nonprofits?

    • A.
Matching donation: Each time a consumer logs on to donate as part of the matching donation promotion we inform the brand. They in turn, transfer the donations money plus the amount matched. We then distribute those funds according to the consumer choices.
    • B.
Online Donations: Each time a brand makes a sale of the earmarked items they keep a tally and transfer the percentage allocated to charity to Act in Kind on a quarterly basis, we then distribute those funds according to the consumer logons.
  • How much of my donation actually gets to the project I’ve chosen?

    • All of it! Your entire donation goes to the nonprofit that’s administering the project you’ve chosen. The actual amount of your donation that then goes onto the project depends on the administrative fees the nonprofit has to incur. This fee is listed on our site under each project and usually varies anywhere from 0-10%.
  • How do you choose the nonprofits?

    • As a general rule any nonprofit we consider must be registered and in existence for a minimum of 3 years. In addition to administering aid regardless of race or religion the organization demonstrate a proven track record for measuring its meaningful impact upon the communities it serves. Basically, we look for honest organizations that have a genuine interest in the projects they serve.
  • How do you choose the projects?

    • While our emotions tend to guide here, we do want to cover as many countries as possible and undertake many different projects that fall under our very general categories of environment, basic rights, education, livelihood and development.
  • Why are you not a nonprofit?

    • There are 2 reasons we are not a nonprofit. By functioning as a corporation we believe we can have a wider outreach and a more efficient way of doing business. The second reason, is that part of our vision form the start has been to help fund small projects in different parts of the world, we would like to be able to do that through Act in Kind’s future profit. We want the flexibility to be able to go into smaller, less prosperous countries and make a difference without having to deal with the all red tape.
  • Who decides what portion of a product’s sale will go towards an Act in Kind project?

    • This is up to each individual brand.
  • How do you choose your partner bands?

    • We choose brands that we think can have the impact and capacity to help by giving back.
  • In all of this, what do the nonprofits get charged?

    • Nothing at all. We want nonprofits to focus on what they do best, administering help. With Act in Kind we hope to take a little of the burden of fund raising off their shoulders.
  • I want to donate directly to a project?

    • Great! We’re setting up an account with Pay Pall to encourage people like you to make direct donations. Simply choose a project that interests you and look for the link to make a direct donation. Through an internal coding system attributed to each project, we’ll make sure your donation goes directly to the project you’ve chosen. /li>

    • We charge our corporate partners an administrative fee to manage and run the site.
  • Do Act in Kind marked items cost more?

    • They shouldn't. The whole idea is to share existing profits with projects in need of funding.
  • There's this brand that I love and I think they should be a part of your platform.

    • Drop us a line at feedback@actinkind.com. We’ll follow up with you as soon as we’ve had time to review the brand and its company.
  • Is cause marketing your solution to world problems?

    • Nope and we’re not trying to save the world here. We realize this is not a perfect solution: it’s just an idea among many others whose goal is to give the consumer a role in distributing corporate funds.
  • Any obvious questions we totally overlooked?
