The Al Fatah School: A Model School for Girls in Kabul
In this project, Smiling Children's objectives are two-fold: Empower women and provide young girls access to education. It therefore created a model school for girls in Afghanistan.
For Smiling Children the Al-Fatah school partnership began in 2007 when the foundation committed to co-funding the construction of 6 classrooms, washrooms facilities and textbook materials, a much-needed resource.
Since its rehabilitation, the school has benefited over 7,000 Afghan pupils between the ages of 6 and 18 and has become the model for girls’ schools in Afghanistan. Al Fatah is also Afghanistan’s largest school for girls.
Smiling Children is developing a teacher-training program specializing in English and IT along with management training. In the near future Smiling Children hopes to work with “Sports sans Frontière”, an association that implements education and development programs through sporting activities.
