Here's where to go, what to do and how to do it.
OUR STORY
Consumers are in a pressure cooker these days. A trip to the corner store can become overwhelming when we consider all our options: Paper or plastic? Budget or organic? Buy local or fair trade? At Act in Kind, we believe that individuals do have a responsibility to care for issues like social equity and the environment, but so does the private and public sector. It’s unfair to ask that we bear all the responsibility for global issues that are affecting our planet and its limited resources.
Our mission is to encourage as many brands as possible to give a percentage of their profits back to communities, and many already are. We recognize that profit making is part of the world we live in and that consuming is a basic need (although some consume far more than others), but we kept wondering, where do all these profits go? And at the retail level, you hardly ever know. Since consumers are the ones spending their money, why not let them decide how brand donations are made?
We support projects that are sound and solid, and we follow-up with our partners continuously to make sure we’re all on the same page. When working with the private sector, we try to be selective about what brands we’re associated with and transparent about our participation: brands pay us a fee for the Act in Kind service, so that 100% of your donations go directly to the projects that need it most.
Act in kind distributes funds from your for-profit brand purchases to non-profit projects throughout the world.
When you shop, you decide where the donations go.
